Life Skills House
The Life Skills House is all about promoting independent living skills for our learners. Starting with the basics and encouraging learners to meet targets and overcome any obstacles that may occur. Each learner attends the house just once a week. In that time they work on house-keeping skills and personal skills whilst also working through their chosen targets in their personal planners.
Week by week we are introducing our learners to new skills, these include; how to use equipment safely, making beds, setting and clearing the table, cooking skills, shopping, hoovering and general cleaning. Over the year we will also embrace safe traveling, managing money, personal hygiene, and healthy eating. All new skills achieved by our learners are recorded using their personal planners where completed worksheets are stored, also the development of their goals can be seen via our Life Skills House WhatsApp group.
As well as promoting a productive learning environment we also want the Life Skills House to be as fun as it can be, so as with most things after their work has been completed we like to chill out with a snack and watch a bit of TV! During the summer months we will be taking advantage of the patio and garden for a little Al Fresco dining and time in the sun.
