Hobby Corner

Relocating into a larger area the Sewing Room has evolved and grown into Hobby Corner. With Life Skills moving across to new premises a complete remodel of the vacant room was set in motion for our new area.

 

We kept all the sewing aspects of the area using our memory sewing machine to embroider logos and lettering onto clothing, but have now added some basic woodwork skills. 
Learners participate in the making of bird boxes and customisable animal planters, and are involved from start to finish in the making of the products.

 

They help transfer the templates from paper onto the wood, then after the pieces have been cut out by staff the learners sand down the pieces. Finally painting and varnishing to the designs that have been asked for.

Other product projects that have been worked on include children’s chairs and tables, our very popular plant pot people and making dolls dresses for rag dolls.
